The role
We are hiring a Director of Engineering who has exceptional technical and leadership skills.
This role will lead the development of the Tripstack Booking Engine with the additional focus of Platform Architecture and Data ML/OPs. In this role, you will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO). You will be responsible for overseeing and managing engineering managers, architects and senior/staff engineers in Poland as well as staff in Canada and India offices.
This leader is expected to play a hands-on role in shaping our technology, fostering a culture of engineering excellence, customer focus as well as helping to build up the next generation of leaders throughout the organization. You will form a tight partnership with global, cross-functional teams to help drive our product vision & roadmap and business strategy.
Responsibilities
Develop and ship the next generation of the Tripstack API as a world-class, fully NDC capable platform
Scale our data ML/OPs practice and infrastructure to handle more real-time workloads and much higher volume for data processing (i.e. billions of flight price adjustments daily)
Organize and lead our Architecture centre of excellence supporting projects across all locations and teams
Lead talent acquisition and management efforts for TripStack’s Poland operation - hiring, mentoring new engineers & colleagues, shaping our engineering culture, and helping us grow an amazing team of talented and mission-driven engineers
Inspire your teams and manage their career development by providing coaching and mentoring to junior members while guiding senior engineers to maximize their potential. Provide continuous performance feedback, collaborate with team members on their objectives and provide a clear path for progression through personal development plans
Create, implement and manage processes and ensure best practices for software development, version control, unit testing etc. as well as build, test and release mechanisms. Partner with the CTO and Product team to deliver on the roadmap.
Technical management and implementation of all aspects of our product including content integrations, booking engine features and distribution of flight content, etc.
Staffing, scheduling and performance management of all development resources
Continue to develop and improve delivery processes - shipping clean and high-quality code designed for scalability, reliability, and performance
Foster a quality-focused development culture
Communicate effectively between teams across various geographic locations, cutting across technology, content management and sales
Continuously seek to improve product and service quality
Requirements
You are a strong technical leader who has the ability to attract and motivate top talent. You are curious, collaborative, humble, and have a high EQ. In short, you have excellent leadership and people management skills.
15+ years of technology management experience in various capacities, including software development in e-commerce
Superb technical experience e.g. .NET Core, Golang, GCP, Machine Learning and ML/OP’s, PostgreSQL, Druid, AirFlow, RedPanda (Kafka), Linux, etc.
The right person for this role will have previous technology leadership experience in a high-volume 24x7 e-commerce platform
Proven experience leading enterprise architecture and design for a complex, transactional platform
Deep understanding of data analytics architectures, self-hosted solutions, infrastructure and scaling
Proven ability to collaborate with stakeholders at different levels - executives, business leaders, technical experts, etc.
Background in the travel industry and / or with one or more of the major GDS platforms (e.g., Travelport, Amadeus, Sabre, etc.) is a plus
Experience integrating and designing high-volume API's
Strong project and program management skills
Education - Masters of computer science or masters of software engineering
